What You Can Do Now

With the current version, here's what's available to play:

  • Tutorial/Skirmish Mode: Learn the basics and practice offline
  • Online Matchmaking: Join other players in real multiplayer battles!
  • Character Customization: Change your character's appearance (face, body type, voice)
  • All DLC Stages: Access all downloadable content maps and modes
Current Development Status

The game is now playable online with matchmaking working! However, several features are still under development:

  • Equipment System: Unable to use equipment online (running in "offline" mode)
  • Leveling & Progression: Currently impossible to obtain gear
  • Happy Cards: Cannot spend tickets (data transmission issues)
  • Happy Spinner: Cannot earn or spend stars (data transmission issues)

Currently Available: Tutorial/Skirmish, Online Matchmaking, Character Customization (appearance only), All DLC Stages

Remember: Equipment, leveling, Happy Cards, and Happy Spinner are not yet functional. You'll play with default stats until these features are restored.

We're actively working to restore full API functionality. Thank you for your patience!

Download the Game Files

Click the download button above to access our MEGA storage. You'll find the complete Happy Wars game package.

  • File size is approximately 1-2 GB
  • Download speed depends on your internet connection
  • Make sure you have enough storage space available
  • The download is completely free - no premium account needed
Pro Tip

Using the MEGA desktop app can provide faster and more stable downloads compared to browser downloads.

Extract the Files

Once the download is complete, you'll need to extract the game files:

  • Locate the downloaded .zip or .rar file
  • Right-click and select "Extract All" (Windows) or use 7-Zip/WinRAR
  • Choose a destination folder (we recommend C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Documents\Games\HappyWars)
  • Wait for the extraction to complete - this may take a few minutes
Important

Do NOT extract to a folder with special characters or non-English names. Use a simple path like C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Documents\Games\HappyWars to avoid issues.

Run the Launcher

Navigate to your installation folder and launch the game:

  • Find HappyWarsLauncher.exe in your game folder
  • Right-click and select "Run as Administrator"
  • If Windows Defender shows a warning, click "More info" then "Run anyway"
  • The launcher will check for updates and prepare the game
Security Note

The launcher may be flagged by antivirus software because it's not digitally signed. This is normal for community projects. You can add an exception in your antivirus settings if needed.

Create Your Account

When you first launch the game, you'll need to create an account:

  • Click "Create New Account" in the launcher
  • Choose a unique username (this will be your in-game name)
  • Enter a secure password and email address
  • Verify your email address (check spam folder if needed)
  • Log in with your new credentials
Account Security

This is a NEW account system separate from the original game. Your old Xbox/Steam credentials will NOT work. Create a fresh account to play.

Configure Game Settings

Before jumping into battles, take a moment to optimize your settings:

  • Graphics: Adjust resolution and quality based on your PC specs
  • Controls: Configure keyboard/mouse or gamepad settings
  • Audio: Set volume levels for music, SFX, and voice chat
  • Network: Select your preferred server region for best latency
Controller Support

Happy Wars supports Xbox controllers, PlayStation controllers, and most standard gamepads. Controllers are automatically detected when plugged in.

Start Playing!

You're all set! Here's what to do next:

  • Complete the Tutorial to learn game basics (highly recommended for new players)
  • Try Co-op vs AI mode to practice with other players against bots
  • Join Quick Match for balanced PvP battles
  • Explore Custom Games to play specific modes or maps
  • Check the Daily Missions for bonus rewards

Common Issues & Solutions

Game won't launch or crashes on startup

Try these solutions:

  • Make sure you're running the launcher as Administrator
  • Install the latest DirectX 11 runtime from Microsoft
  • Update your graphics card drivers
  • Disable antivirus temporarily during launch
  • Verify all game files were extracted properly
  • Try running in Windows 7 compatibility mode
Can't connect to servers or high ping

Connection troubleshooting:

  • Check your firewall settings and allow the game through
  • Select a server region closer to your location
  • Make sure ports 27015-27030 are open (TCP/UDP)
  • Restart your router/modem
  • Close bandwidth-heavy applications (downloads, streaming)
  • Check our Discord for server status updates
Low FPS or performance issues

Performance optimization:

  • Lower graphics settings (resolution, shadows, effects)
  • Close background applications
  • Update GPU drivers to the latest version
  • Make sure your laptop is plugged in and not in power-saving mode
  • Set the game to High Priority in Task Manager
  • Disable Windows Game Mode if it causes issues
