Happy Wars Revival

New in HappyTool: a Forge-style map editor

News

HappyTool's stage viewer is now a full map editor (beta), inspired by Halo Reach's Forge. Open any Steam stage, fly around it, and change it, using either a controller or keyboard and mouse. A bar along the bottom always shows what each button does.

Grab, carry and place
Aim at an object and grab it. It rides along the ground wherever you point until you place it. You can turn, tilt, lean, resize and raise it as you go, or drop a copy and keep carrying. Trees, bridges and other props built from several pieces now move as one object, and you can still grab a single piece when you need to.

New objects
The object browser has the Nuketown kit, every object from the stage you're editing and from every other stage, and the game's real gimmicks. If you have Happy Dungeons (Xbox One) files, its props, rooms and gimmicks can be converted and placed in Steam maps too.

Terraforming
Raise, lower, smooth or flatten the ground with a brush. Everything standing on it moves with it. Exported maps also update the terrain's collision and the bots' navigation to match.

Real gimmicks
Castles, monuments, ballistas, cannons, bomb stones, bridges, ladders and gates are read from the game's own data. You can move or remove them and add new ones. Play test can start you at the white or black castle.

Sky replacement
Use another stage's sky, your own picture (360° panoramas fit perfectly), or a colour preset such as Sunset or Night. Clouds can be switched on or off.

Seasonal decorations
Preview a stage's Easter, Halloween, Christmas and other decorations, turn them off for one stage, or switch them off for the whole game.

Play test
Drop a player into the map at any time to walk it, jump around and check the collision.

When you're done, export the map and install it straight into the game. The installer backs up every file it replaces, so you can restore the original at any time.

These features are brand new, so please report anything that looks wrong in game. Happy building!
